The Swahili coast evokes powerful images of silhouetted prawn fisherman dragging their nets before the coming dawn; heavily laden wooden dhows racing home at last light, powered by white sails; Ruins of sultan palaces engulfed by overgrown lush forest. Coast

Tanzania has more then a 1000km of coastline. The coast region and the Islands that face it form a varied region rich in treasures both of human and natural origins; Not only the famous white sand beaches and aquamarine waters of the Indian Ocean, but a myriad of attractions such national parks and reserves, tropical forests, translucent lagoons and magnificent estuaries. It is the home to some of the oldest communities on the East African coast and as such right at the heart of colorful and interesting Swahili culture. It is this fascinating tapestry of nature; culture a scenic beauty that draws thousands to it every year.
